Benefits Of Facial Acupuncture
Facial acupuncture (or Cosmetic Acupuncture) has gained popularity for its multifaceted benefits. It is effective in treating symptoms such as muscle stiffness, jaw aches, headaches, allergies, and anxiety, in addition it's aesthetic advantages are equally remarkable.
Brightens Complexion: A bright, radiant complexion is often associated with vitality and good health. Facial acupuncture stimulates blood circulation, and nourishment to the skin cells. This enhanced circulation helps to bring out the natural glow, leaving the skin looking refreshed and rejuvenated.
Reduces Acne: Acne can be a persistent skin concern for many, regardless of age. Facial acupuncture targets the root causes of acne by regulating hormone levels, and reducing inflammation. By addressing these underlying factors, the frequency and severity of acne breakouts can be diminished.
Minimizes Pores: Enlarged pores can give the skin a rough and uneven texture. Through a combination of improved circulation and increased collagen production, facial acupuncture helps to tighten and tone the skin, resulting in a reduction in the appearance of pores.
Reduces Appearance of Wrinkles and Fine Lines: Wrinkles and fine lines are often a natural part of the aging process. However, facial acupuncture has shown promise in reducing their appearance. The technique promotes the production of collagen and elastin, essential proteins that contribute to skin's elasticity and smoothness.
Reduces Puffiness and Facial Swelling: Fluid retention can lead to facial puffiness and swelling, making one appear tired and bloated. By stimulating the lymphatic system, facial acupuncture encourages the removal of excess fluids and toxins, resulting in a more defined and sculpted facial contour.
Improves Facial Muscle Tone: Just as exercise tones and strengthens muscles in the body, facial acupuncture works to enhance muscle tone in the face. This natural toning effect contributes to a firmer, more youthful appearance.
Reduces Jaw Tension: Stress can often contribute to jaw tension, which can lead to discomfort and even headaches. Facial acupuncture targets key points to relax and release tension in the jaw, providing relief from this common ailment.
Research On Facial Acupuncture
Unlike Botox or dermal fillers, facial acupuncture isn’t a quick fix. At Health Wise we prefer to manage expectations. Our focus is to create long-term changes in the health of the skin and body through improved collagen stimulation, a brightened skin tone, reduced jaw tension, and a softer appearance overal in addition to health benefits such as reduced anxiety and tension.
One research study has revealed that a significant proportion of participants experienced notable improvements following five sessions of facial acupuncture. However, for optimal and enduring outcomes, it is advised to undergo a series of 10 treatments, ideally scheduled once or twice per week. Subsequently, we suggest transitioning to a "maintenance stage", wherein treatments are administered every four to eight weeks to sustain the achieved benefits.
What To Expect At Health Wise?
At the start of your treatment, our professional licensed practitioner will evaluate your condition and discuss specifics of the treatment.
At Health Wise we maintain a high standard of hygiene and are committed to providing you with a safe and comfortable environment for effective acupuncture treatment. We use specialised Facial Acupuncture needles imported from Japan, that are disposed of after one-time use at our clinic. We only use sterile needles which we dispose of after each use.
During the treatment, our pracitioner will insert acupuncture needles into acupuncture points on the face and body. This procedure does not hurt, the needles are as fine as a strand of hair. These needles will be left in place for a short period of time (around 30 minutes). You may experience a sensation of numbness or tingling during this time. Keep in mind, your first acupuncture treatment may feel more intense than your follow-up appointments.
